These costs must be budgeted in addition to the equity required for the purchase.

For example, for a property worth CHF 1,000,000, you should generally budget for:

Who pays these fees?

In most cases, these fees are paid by the buyer.

However, the exact allocation may vary depending on the canton or the agreement between the buyer and the seller.

Can these costs be financed with the mortgage?

In general, no.

Purchase costs must be paid using the buyer’s own funds.

They are therefore added on top of the equity required to obtain a mortgage.
